For nearly twenty years, I’ve dedicated my career to serving students teaching every grade from 6–12 across social studies, ELA, and special education. From small-group instruction to inclusion to stand-alone models, and now teaching AP History at Middletown High School, I understand the realities of Delaware classrooms because I live them every day.
Originally from Pennsylvania, with a B.A. in History and Religion from Franklin & Marshall College and an M.A. in History from the University of Nebraska, I entered public education believing in its power to change lives. That belief has only grown stronger. My guiding principle has never changed: improving the working conditions of educators is how we improve the learning conditions of our students.
My union leadership has always been grassroots. I started as a member who paid my dues, then became a building representative, local member-at-large, PAC chair, DSEA Executive Board member, local Vice President, and now President of the Appoquinimink Education Association. Each role deepened my commitment to making sure educators shape the future of our profession.
As I run for DSEA Vice President, I’m focused on:
- Competitive Compensation and strong professional protections for ALL educators
- Ensuring our ESPs are recognized and respected as ESSENTIAL staff with adoption of the ESP Bill of Rights
- Fight for fair workloads, proper staffing, respect for national standards and guidelines for our specialists
- Expanding mental-health, resources for students and educators
- Strengthening collective bargaining rights and educator voice statewide
Delaware’s educators deserve a leader who understands their challenges and fights for their needs. I’m ready to be that advocate and I’m asking for your support.
