Petition for Responsible Government
Sponsored by DSEA-Retired
In late August 2010, personal information, including full social security numbers, of 22,000 retirees in the State of Delaware Group Vision Plan, was made public due to a combined error of AON (a consultant) and the State.
I believe that the affected retirees should receive a lifetime of free credit report monitoring, not the three years offered by AON. Accepting this credit monitoring should not preclude a retiree from seeking other remediation.
I further believe that this type of error should never happen again, and that the State Benefits Office must put safeguards in place to effectively monitor the work of their consultants, thereby protecting against the devastating effects of identity theft.
